Evolution of Human

Introduction

    The binomial name Homo sapiens was coined by Linnaeus, 1758. The Latin noun homō (genitive hominis) means "human being", while the participle sapiēns means "discerning, wise, sensible".

Facts

1. There is enough DNA in the average person’s body to stretch 17 times from the sun to Pluto and come back.
2. The average human body carries almost ten times more bacterial cells than human cells.
3. The food which we eat can’t be tasted without saliva.
4. An individual blood cell in a human body takes about 60 seconds to make a complete circuit of the human body.
5. In entire lifetime an average person walks almost the equivalent of five times around the world.
6. Brushing your teeth too aggressively can wear down enamel and make teeth sensitive to hot and cold foods.
7. If the blood vessels were laid end to end it would encircle the Earth four times.
8. Humans are the only animals with chins.
9. The foot is one of the most ticklish parts of the body.
10. Extraocular muscles that are present in the eye are the body’s fastest muscles. These muscles allow both the eyes to flick in the same direction in a 50-millisecond movement.
11. The human hair grows fast – about 6 inches per year. The only thing in the human body which grows faster is the bone marrow.
12. Fingerprints in humans help wick water away from our hands, prevent blisters, or improve touch.
13. The human heart beats more than 3 billion times in an average lifespan of human.

15. The human nose has the ability to detect about 1 trillion smells.
16. In a human body there are two kidneys, but only one is necessary to live.
17. Each person sheds 22 kilograms of skin in his or her lifetime.
18. A human body has enough iron in it to make a nail 3 inches long.
19. During lifetime, human produces enough saliva to fill two swimming pools.
20. The cartilage between your bones makes us taller in the morning and 1 cm shorter by day’s end as the cartilage gets compressed.
