Question 1: What is health?
Answer: Health means our ability to remain free of illness and injuries.
Question 2: Write any 3 differences between public and private health care services in India.
Answer:
Public Health Care
1. They are link so that they cover both Rural and Urban areas and provide treatment.
2. At the village level there are health centers where there is usually a nurse and a village health worker.
3. They are trained in dealing with common illness and work under the supervision of doctor at the Primary Health Center (PHC)
Private Health Center
1. Private Health Center facilities are not owned or controlled by the government.
2. Patients have to pay a lot of money for every service that they use.
3. They have special facility such as X-Ray, Ultrasound.
Question 3: What are the different ways through which the government can take steps to provide healthcare for all?
Answer: Government need to take some necessary steps to ensure everyone receive better health care facilities -
• More number of hospitals, health care centers and Family welfare centre be step up.
• Workshops, Seminar and training camps must be organized to spread awareness among people.
• Organizing health checkup camps at regular interval for taking care of general people.
• Pulse polio campaign etc must be organized.
Question 4: What can we do to prevent and treat illness?
Answer: To prevent and treat illness, we need appropriate healthcare facilities such as Health center, hospital, and laboratory for testing, Ambulance services, Blood banks etc.
Question 5: Mention any 3 positive and negative aspects of healthcare in India.
Answer:
There are many positive aspects of healthcare in India. Some of them are -
• India is among the most preferred country in medical tourism.
• Health care system in India is universal i.e. one can take benefit of private medical institution as well as government medical institution.
• India in the third-largest exporter of pharmaceutical products in terms of volume.
There are negative aspects of healthcare in India are -
• Rural people face the crisis of doctors, because most of the doctors settle in the urban areas. They have to travel long distances to reach a doctor.
• About 5 lakhs people die from tuberculosis every year.
• Half of all the children do not get adequate food to eat and are undernourished.
Question 6: Write down the main features of public health system.
Answer: The main features of public health system are -
• It provides quality health care services either free or at a low cost so that even the poor can seek treatment.
• It takes action to prevent the spread of diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, jaundice etc.
