Answer: A chain of a markets is formed when a number of traders supply goods from the producers to the consumers. Thus we have wholesale markets where other dealers buy the goods in the bulk. The chain serves the purpose of bringing goods from the producers, who live in far off areas, to consumers in towns and cities.
Question 2: 'All persons have equal rights to visit any shops in a market place'. Do you think this is true of shops with expensive products? Explain with examples.
Answer: All the persons have equal rights to visit any shops in the market place. It does not matter whether the shop is expensive with expensive items or an ordinary shop selling cheap items. We are free to visit any shops and see different products and buy if the price suits our pockets.
Example: Kavita and Sujata went to Anzal Mall. They entered a shop that was selling branded ready made clothes. They looked at some of the dresses. None of them was less than Rs 2000 almost 5 times weekly market price. The price didn't suit their pocket. Hence they went to another shop.
Question 3: 'Buying and Selling can take place without going to a market place'. Explain this statement with the help of an example.
Answer: This is an age of internet. It has changed the mode of everything. We can now make online purchases with the help of the credit cards. We can place orders through the internet and the goods are delivered at our place.
Example: Over the internet, we can visit the concerned website and order the products.
Question 4: Write in brief about shopping complexes and malls.
Answer: Shopping complexes and malls are usually found in urban areas. These are large - multi - storeyed air conditioned buildings with shops on different floors. These shops sell both branded and non - branded. Fewer people visit malls because they sell costly items. Only well-to-do people can afford to buy these items.
Question 5: Write any three advantages and disadvantages of weekly markets.
Answer:
Advantages
1. Most of the things are available at one place.
2. The goods are available at very low rates and bargaining can be done.
3. They can buy the goods in smaller quantities.
Disadvantages
1. Weekly markets are not permanent i.e. they are open till evening and are then closed.
2. They don't have branded or quality materials.
3. As they are open only for a day of a week.
