Kips Class 8 AI Unit 1: Excite AI Ready Solution

Unit 1: Excite AI Ready Solution

Activity 1: Writing Subjective Responses
Q1. Can complex computer programs copy human behaviour, which is often illogical, unpredictable, and baffling? Give reasons to support your answer.
Answer:
No, the existing computer programs cannot mimic human behaviour completely; the best of them can only mimic specific tasks of human. Computer programs have limitations due to their programming (software), and this makes it acts as a closed system. This programming therefore, is limited in its response. Human beings, on the other hand, exist in an open system and are not limited in their responses.

Q2. Self-driving cars must understand human behaviour for safe driving. What are some of the problem issues that can come up in this area?
Answer:
Some of the problem issues that can come up in this area are:
• Human beings are not always logical and rational. Many times, human beings make decisions based on emotions. Self-driving cars cannot understand such emotions.
• Different human beings will react differently to the same situation. Example: Some might apply breaks for protecting a dog on the road; some might steer right or left; while some might not apply break.
• The same human being when faced with the same situation twice might react differently both the times.

Q3. These days more and more appliances are talking each other and with the Internet. How will all this talk help in the development of AI systems?
Answer:
The communication between appliances and the internet provides data for the AI systems to use. In many cases, this data might be real-time data. AI systems need data for mimicking human beings and making intelligent decisions. The availability of more and better data means better AI systems. Example: A smart AI system can go through the AC setting for a set period, compare them with the camera inputs, temperatures in the areas, office and school timings, etc., and determine the temperature at which the AC setting should be.

Q4. What will be the most difficult challenge for self-driving vehicles; poor infrastructure or unpredictable human beings?
Answer:
The challenge of unpredictability will be much more than the challenge of poor infrastructure. The computer systems are limited in both inputs and outputs of their programming. They can be programmed to react to poor infrastructure. Reacting to human unpredictability is difficult because the programmer cannot anticipate or guess all the actions that human beings will take.

Q5. Human beings are emotional beings. What are some of the areas where emotions can create problems for artificial intelligent systems?
Answer:
Some areas where emotions can create problems for artificial intelligent systems are:
• Copying human behavior
• AI decision-making
• Human behavior predictions
• Understanding and responding to human emotions.

Q6. Artificial intelligence requires a lot of information to work. This information can be personal in nature. (For example, personal photographs for computer visuals). What are some of the dangers of collecting and using this personal information?
Answer:
Some of the dangers of collecting and using this personal information are:
• Loss of privacy
• Identity theft
• Accessing your private information
• Behavior predictions

Q7. Can Artificial intelligence systems replace some human jobs? Mention two three jobs and give reasons about why they can be replaced or not.
Answer:
Yes, AI can definitely replace human job as they have been developed to an extent where it is capable of replacing some of the jobs. Some of the jobs that AI systems can replace are:
• Customer service executives: AI gives customer service departments the ability to do more, thus improving the customer experience. Chatbots can handle multiple queries at once. If a question is too complex for a chatbot to process, a live representative can step in and address the issue.
• Doctors: There are many witnessing robot-surgeons which are capable of performing critical operations worldwide. Robotic doctors will make more accurate and effective treatments for the patients compared to their human counterparts.
• Military: In future, the robots will be used as soldiers for military purpose. Robots are significantly being used in military operations for various tasks such as surveillance, intelligence, and many more.

Activity 2: Project Writing
Recommended Activity: You have to write a letter to yourself keeping the future context. Describe what you have learnt so far about artificial intelligence. Also, write about what you would like to learn in future so as to acquire the skills required for taking advantage of futuristic opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence.
Answer:

Dear myself,
I had learnt about what is AI, how was the term Artificial Intelligence coined by John McCarthy in 1956 at Dartmouth College, what are the difficult tasks and easy tasks for AI and humans. I had also learnt about behaviors associated with human intelligence, philosophy of AI, what is the main difference between artificial intelligence and human intelligence, types of AI (which included Artificial Narrow Intelligence, Artificial General Intelligence, Artificial Super Intelligence, Weak AI, Strong AI, Applied AI, Cognitive AI), differences between General AI and Narrow AI, Strong AI and Weak AI, Fields that contribute to AI, Advantages of AI, difference between programming with AI and programming without AI, the fields related to AI (Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Data Science, Robotics), applications of AI (like Gaming, NLP, Expert Systems, Vision Systems, Handwriting Recognition, Intelligent Robots), what are the limitations of AI, three domains of AI (Data, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing and its types), applications which use AI (like Emoji Scavenger Hunt, Teachable Snake, FaceApp, Quick Draw!, Cortana, Siri etc.)
I would like to learn the following things in future about AI:
• Advantages of AI and Disadvantages of AI
• How AI can be relevant to Smart Cities and Smart Buildings
• Types of AI careers
• Skills set in demand for jobs of AI
• How to make programs that use AI like Smart Scan?
• How AI is more relevant in our lives?
• How AI are being used in Health, Security, Education, Transportation, Entertainment, and Services Purpose?

Thank you!
