Poem - No Men are Foreign
Writer of the poem - James Kirkup
Summary
James Kirkup is his poem, “No Men are Foreign” expresses a wonderful thought of ‘Universal Brotherhood’. The poet emphasis that the whole world is one and there is a common element in every human being and that is ‘love’. In the poem, he advocates that life without barriers is blissful and we are all children of God. Though we are born in different regions on this planet, which is evident by the difference in appearance, language and lifestyles we belong to, we all come under one banner of ‘humanity’.
Our bio-rhythm is the same, we wake up and work in the same way, we walk on the same land and also get buried there. The poet cautions against fighting with each other or getting influenced by others to fight. If we do so, we are betraying and condemning ourselves in the process. (If we fight amongst ourselves). Our actions defile the earth and outdo the innocence of air that is our own. The poem conveys a strong message to dismantle man-made that stand between nations.
