Question 1: Describe Maria Sharapova’s rapid ascent to the number one position in tennis. What did you learn from her?
Answer: Maria Sharapova is a Russian and belonged to a poor family from Siberia. She was just nine year old when her father took her to Florida for training in tennis. Her mother couldn’t accompany her because of visa restrictions. So, she was alone, sharing her room with other tennis pupil who were older than her. She was only the non-American student and had to bear insults and humiliations Maria exhibited mental toughness and physical strength to withstand these humiliations with focus and determination, she reached top at the age of eighteen. She is an inspiring personality, whose life highlights the fact that success comes with sacrifice and hard work. Had she not sacrificed the pleasure of living with her family, she wouldn’t have achieved what she had actually achieved in life.
