Poem - The Lake Isle of Innisfree
Writer of the poem - William Butler Yeats
Summary
The Lake Isle of Innisfree is a poem published by William Butler Yeats in his second book of poems in 1893 named ‘The Rose’. The poem sounds quite simple in terms of the idea of the poem wherein he declares that he would rise and go to Innisfree and build a small cabin to live in peace in the lap of nature where peace drops from the veil of the morning, where the cricket sings and would meditate in the low sounds of the waterfalls. He gives a call from the deep core of his heart.
The simple imagery of a quiet life the poet wants to lead as he enumerates each of its qualities and lures the reader into his fantasy centil the penultimate line jolts the reader into reality of his existence.
