Question 1: Who were in the team that went to Bishnupur?
Answer: The team members that went to Bishnupur forest include - Wild life warden of the state, Subrata Choudhuri, an officer specializing in tranquillising animals and the narrator. They went to the forest to treat an injured elephant. A Veterinary Officer, who had no experience of treating elephants joined them later.

Question 2: How was the herd chased away? Why it have to chased away?
Answer: The team could not treat the injured elephant when they had tracked it down as it was in the middle of the herd. It was impossible to separate it from the herd and treat it. So the herd had to be chased away. A group of enthusiastic villagers chased away the herd by shouting and bursting crackers to isolate the injured elephant.
 
Question 3: How did the vet treat the elephant?
Answer: The elephant was successfully tranquillised by an effective team. The vet made a deep cut across the swollen part of the leg. It brought out a flow of black blood from the large abscess. The animal was then given a shot of long acting antibiotic and was bandaged. He also gave an antidote to the elephant, which could revive it.

Question 4: Do you think the speaker and his team were irresponsible? Why or Why not?
Answer: The speaker and his team wanted to stay around for the elephants revival and for rejoining its herd. Unfortunately there was no sal tree to support a machan, where the team could spend the night and it would be dangerous to spend the night on the ground with 50 wild elephants nearby. Yet they waited until they saw signs of the elephant regaining consciousness and proved themselves responsible.
